Woodfield Ave

  • About the Allotment. We are a thriving urban allotment in NW London with 28 fully let plots. Our members grow a wide variety of vegetables, alongside an abundance of fruit including apple, plum, and fig trees spread throughout the site. The allotment is also home to a growing number of wildlife-friendly features. We recently installed beehives for wild bees, and several ponds are dotted around the site, providing habitat for our resident frog population — natural allies in keeping slugs under control. Each spring the ponds quickly fill with frogspawn, a welcome sign that our small ecosystem is thriving. As with any allotment there is always work to be done, but the start of the growing season is always an exciting time as the site comes back to life.New DevelopmentsWe have recently created two large communal plots that will support the wider project. These areas will be used for communal composting and for storing tree bark and other materials used across the site.Plans are also underway to install two large greenhouses where we will grow plants and young trees for sale to the public. In time, we hope to open a small local shop offering seasonal produce from the allotment along with seeds and plants grown on site.Alongside this, we are planning to run guided introductions to gardening for the public, as well as open days so visitors can explore the allotment and see what our community has built together.
